The former Benjamin Moore Paint Company warehouse and manufacturing buildings were built in 1933 and later purchased by the St. Charles Town Company for residential conversion. The first phase of the redevelopment targeted the 4-story brick warehouse fronting Broadway and Walnut streets with their oversized steel pivot windows framed with large articulated pilasters. The warehouse was converted to forty loft condominium homes in an innovative “starburst pattern” which maximized the window area for each of the 1,200 square-foot lofts. A two-story wood, truss warehouse was converted to offices for a graphic arts studio and the later phases of the mixed-income, mixed-use project included the Brunetti Lofts and Chroma Townhomes.
